Farhan Akhtar is an Indian film director, screenwriter, actor, playback singer, producer, and television host. He was born to legendary lyrics writer Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani in Mumbai on 9 January 1974. Farhan Akhtar entered Bollywood industry as an assistant director in Lamhe ( 1991 ) and Himalya Putra ( 1997 ). Farhan's first movie as a director was Dil Chahta Hai ( 2001 ) with Aamir Khan which acquired a cult status in film industry and it also awarded with National Award 2002 in Best Feature Film in Hindi category. He made his official debut as an actor with Rock On (2008), for which he won a second National Award for Best Feature Film
